The new Responsible Business Report published by partnership homes developer Lovell charts the firm’s latest achievements on sustainability.
The company’s continuing focus on working more sustainably has resulted in significant improvements across a number of areas, including a 27 per cent reduction in carbon intensity compared with the previous year while training successes included the firm’s total number of apprentices rising to 38 from 26 in 2016.
Other highlights include:
The company diverted 98 per cent of its construction waste from landfill last year (compared with 95 per cent in 2016).
Women employees now make up 27.6 per cent of the workforce – more than double the industry average.
The business recorded its lowest-ever accident incidence rates – including an Accident Incidence Rate of 22.01 - at a time when it has more people on site and more hours being worked than ever before.
Business miles travelled per £100,000 turnover fell from 1252.7 the previous year to 1075.5.
Seventy-nine employees are working towards NVQ qualifications, an 88 per cent rise on the preceding year.
The company was ‘Highly Commended’ in the Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year category at the 2017 Housebuilder Awards.
Lovell staff volunteered at 190 community projects with the business donating 1,477 hours and more than £86,400 to local causes and organisations.
