Leeds-based graduate trainee Jana joins Lovell

Housing developer Lovell has recruited Jana McAllister, who lives in Leeds, to its graduate training programme.

Jana, 27, has joined the company – based locally at Turnberry Park, Gildersome – after graduating with a degree in Planning and Development Surveying from Northumbria University.

During her time on the two-year Graduate Scheme she will mainly be working with the company’s technical team as a graduate development coordinator but will also broaden her skills through six-week placements with other departments across the company.

“I’ve always been interested in development and urban regeneration and all the benefits it brings to communities,” says Jana. “Through the graduate programme, I’ll be getting a wide variety of experience, not just in construction and development but also in business management, including studying for an NVQ Level 2 Business Management qualification. One of the things which attracted me to Lovell is their commitment to training and investing in their employees. In the future, I will have the opportunity to become a Chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.”

Regional training advisor Sharon Jarvis will act as Jana’s mentor during her training. Sharon says: “Our aim is to recruit the best possible people, so it’s great to see talented graduates like Jana coming into the business.”

Major projects by Lovell currently under way in Yorkshire include:

  • A £7 million development of 65 homes in the Ings area of Hull. The scheme is the first phase of the transformation of the area with 770 new homes and new landscaped public open space.
  • Design and construction of a £1.7 million specialist supported housing scheme at Moresdale Lane, Leeds, for supported housing provider HB Villages.
  • A large-scale re-roofing programme for council homes for Hull City Council. The company is carrying out work worth £5 million to re-roof more than 1,100 homes.
