Lovell expands Board with announcement of new major projects role

Lovell has appointed Board member John Leary to the newly-created role of major projects director.

Partnership housing developer Lovell has appointed Board member John Leary to the newly-created role of major projects director.

John – formerly national operations director – will lead the company’s delivery of large-scale housing projects in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MOD). He heads up the Lovell team working on a landmark £200 million scheme to create 900 homes for returning troops on Salisbury Plain for which Lovell has been appointed preferred bidder by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). John previously led Lovell’s highly successful fast-tracked delivery of 346 homes in just over a year for soldiers and their families at MOD Stafford.

“John’s formidable sector expertise and outstanding record of delivery makes him uniquely qualified to fulfil this demanding leadership role,” says Lovell managing director Jonathan Goring. “He draws on extensive proven experience of working successfully in partnership with the DIO and MOD to create high-quality, modern homes and community infrastructure for service personnel and their families at pace, and to exacting build and design standards.”

Lovell has also announced that Richard Vining will join its Board as operations director.

Richard joins Lovell from Metropolitan Housing Trust where he was group executive director of development. During a 34-year career, his extensive senior-level construction and housing experience has included chief executive officer roles at Shepherd Construction and Lorne Stewart. As a director at Lend Lease, he created the company’s £500 million turnover housing and accommodation division, led collaborative partnerships with the MOD and spearheaded the development of off-site manufactured homes.

Lovell managing director Jonathan Goring says: “I am extremely pleased to have secured someone of Richard’s high calibre to join our Board as we continue to capitalise on the significant opportunities for the business now presenting themselves across the UK. His range of skills and wealth of construction and housing achievements – including extensive experience in developing off-site construction solutions and in the formation of market-leading partnerships with major public sector clients – make him a fantastic addition to our senior team.”
