Lovell puts its best foot forward with Run Norwich preparations

Lovell is putting its best foot forward as a team of runners prepare to take part in this years’ Run Norwich. The leading developer, which has its East Anglia region based in the city, is one of the main sponsors for the event.

The award-winning 10km road race, organised by the Norwich City FC Community Sports Foundation, takes place this weekend (21st July) in the beautiful and historic city centre of Norwich.

Employees participating in the race include; regional managing director, Simon Medler; regional training advisor, Jo Scott; commercial administrator, Vanessa Jones; assistant quantity surveyor, Darren Evans; senior quantity surveyor, Kelly Wilkinson; and development coordinator, Joe Jackson.

The group have been training together in the evenings after work, with Kelly planning their routes. Joe has previously run a half marathon and Simon has never taken part in a race before. Jo is aiming for a time of 55 minutes whilst Vanessa will be happy with anything under 90 minutes.

Vanessa, who is running for The Nancy Oldfield Trust, said: “I’m really looking forward to the atmosphere. I’ve never run in a race which has so many spectators so I’m just going to enjoy it and not worry too much about my finishing time.”

Simon, who is running for the NEST, a project by Norwich Community Sports Foundation said, “I have never been a runner but as Lovell is sponsoring the event, I thought it would be nice to raise some further cash to support Norwich Community Sport Foundation for all of the great work they do.”

The route passes some of the city’s most iconic landmarks including Norwich Castle, The Forum, Norwich Cathedral and many more.

This year’s chosen partner charities are Headway Norfolk & Waveney and The Nancy Oldfield Trust. Last year the event raised over £80,000 for charity.

Headway is Norfolk and Waveney’s brain injury charity whilst The Nancy Oldfield Trust aims to offer disabled and socially disadvantaged people freedom, adventure and provides wheelchair access on the Norfolk Broads.

Lovell will have its own dedicated cheer spot at 8km to motivate all the runners taking part to complete the final 2km.

This year is the fifth annual Run Norwich and is taking place on Sunday 21st July at 9:30am.

Lovell is also a proud sponsor and judge of the Investing in Future Growth category at this year’s Norfolk Business Awards where it will recognise and reward like-minded organisations and promote the outstanding investments made by Norfolk businesses.

Lovell’s portfolio of homes in East Anglia includes developments in Holt, Fakenham, Gislingham and Mendlesham, with a range of homes available at each.
