Lovell has published its new Responsible Business Report, showing significant improvements across a number of areas as it further its efforts to working more sustainably.
The report which you can read here, was released by the leading housebuilder following the end of its 2018/19 financial year, demonstrated a 27% reduction in carbon intensity since 2016, while the rate of construction waste diverted from landfill had been maintained at 98%.
Other highlights included an average of 7.4 days of sustainability training per staff member, while the firm reported employing 77 people on National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), with 32 apprentices having been taken under its wing over the course of 2018.
As a sign of Lovell’s commitment to promoting diversity, it announced that the number of employees from ethnic backgrounds exceeded the industry-wide average by 3.7%, while the number of female workers is 16% above the national average.
In terms of travel, the developer had covered 928.8 business miles per £100,000 turnover throughout 2018 – a reduction of 146.7 since the previous year – while the litres of fuel consumed per £100,000 turnover was 175.9; down from 229.4 in 2017.
Across all of its projects in the UK, the company attained an average Considerate Constructors Scheme score of 38.83 out of a possible 50, and had collected a “Highly Commended” prize in the Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year category at the Housebuilder Awards, for its work on the Trinity Walk site in London.
Since the end of the previous financial year, there has also been 92 internal promotions, while the Accident Frequency Rate has decreased from 0.11 to 0.09.
As for its pledge to supporting the areas in which it builds, Lovell revealed that it had donated 2,000 hours and £60,000 towards improving the services and facilities that are available to local communities.
