Peter Wilson, regional technical director at Lovell, shared his extensive expertise in regeneration with other housing professionals in a seminar at HOMES UK 2018.

Held at Olympia on 28th/29th November, HOMES UK is London’s largest event for the residential housing sector. The exhibition and programme of seminars provide a platform to network and share insights into key issues in the housing sector. The event attracted a record number of 4,000 attendees, 20 per cent more than last year.

The theme of Peter’s talk was ‘smart regeneration’ and the importance of challenging the approach to regeneration in a changing environment. Smart regeneration is a process and culture change initiative that involves a collaborative project team commitment to use BIM software (Building Information Modelling) to drive greater quality, efficiency and value.

Before joining Lovell this year, Peter led the detailed planning application for more than 2,500 new homes and the community infrastructure at Clapham Park in Lambeth, working with architects PRP. The application was achieved within nine months. BIM was used to enhance every aspect of the project including design, phasing, costings, decanting, logistics, sales, planning and consultation.

Peter is now bringing his vast experience in regeneration to Lovell’s projects in Greenwich where, in partnership with The Royal Borough of Greenwich and PA Housing, three ageing estates are being transformed into sustainable mixed tenure communities – the first phase being Trinity Walk. Lovell is extending the smart use of BIM in these complex projects and raising estate regeneration to new levels.
