Improving the Environment

How we can improve the environment is of vital importance to Lovell. We look at all aspects from how we build to the effect our projects have on the surrounding area. We minimise our waste on site and are reducing our greenhouse gas emissions all of which is independently audited.

‘For the planet’

“We know that the construction and regeneration sectors have a genuine role to play in changing how everyone does business, placing environmental awareness at the very centre of our decision-making,

We are changing how we manage our projects, the kinds of places we create and the legacy these leave. It’s better for the planet, for people and for business.”

We are committed to minimising environmental impact and are implementing a range of measures to achieve this. These include reducing carbon emissions, using responsible construction methods and sustainable materials and reducing waste. In 2021, for example, Lovell recycled a huge 96.5% of our waste nationally.

The company has a strong track record of environmental leadership, becoming the first construction company in the UK to achieve accredited science-based emission reduction targets and, in 2012, the first non-FTSE 350 company ever to be included in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index."

A better way: Leading on action on climate change

Dorn Valley Woodlands shortlisted in this year’s Net-Zero Innovation of the Year category for the edie awards

As part of the Morgan Sindall Group, Lovell are delighted our Dorn Valley Woodlands (as part of our 25-year initiative with Blenheim Estate Land to help plant 270,000 trees) has been shortlisted in this year’s Net-Zero Innovation of the Year category for the edie awards!

Our tree-planting project is a joint partnership with Blenheim Estate and will transform the local environment for the good, and forever, by creating 9 new woodlands and planting more than a quarter of a million trees.

To date, as planting of the first 100 ha of the scheme neared completion nearly 200,000 trees have been planted in the first 7 of the 9 planned woodlands. 70,000 will be planted next season and a total of 27 different species have been selected. This is such an achievement in less than 18 months from the initial concept.

Well done to all involved, and our colleagues across the Morgan Sindall Group for helping to create a legacy for generations to come.
