On Saturday 16th September 2023, team members from leading housing developer Lovell and the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk (BCKLWN) will cycle 100km (64 miles) from King’s Lynn to Norwich in a charity cycle challenge.

Over 20 cyclists will get on their bikes at 8am from the offices of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk to pedal 64 miles off-road to the finish at the Lovell offices at Broadland Business Park. There will be pitstops along the way at Sandringham, East Rudham, Hempton, Whitwell Station and Spixworth for those taking part to have a refreshment and much-needed break.

The event will raise funds for four charities with money split evenly between The Big C, Priscilla Bacon Lodge, Norfolk & Waveney Mind and The Pandora Project. Lovell also hopes to get some of its supply chain involved.

This event follows on from the success of last year’s 24-hour track challenge running event hosted by Lovell and BCKLWN which raised over £4,000 for charity.

Michael Saunders, operations manager at Lovell who helped come up with the event, comments: “Training has already begun for the challenge, with a mixture of people new to cycling but some who are regulars. We would love to get as many of our team involved as we can as this is a brilliant team bonding experience, a chance to get fit and challenge yourself, get outdoors and do something positive for charity. Each of the charities we are supporting provides invaluable services to the East Anglia community.”

David Ousby, Assistant Director Programme & Project Delivery for Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, said: “Our contract with Lovell is about more than building houses – a key part of it is delivering social benefits too. This ride helps us to do that by raising money for good causes and the idea of doing it with a bike ride also helps to emphasise the council’s commitment to healthy lifestyles and greener travel.”
