As a remarkable display of its commitment to environmental stewardship and biodiversity, Lovell has partnered with one of its contractors, who happens to also be a keen beekeeper, to provide a haven for bees at its Saxon Square development in Miles Platting. This collaboration has played a crucial role in safeguarding a bee population and ensuring it has a positive future.

This year’s unpredictable weather conditions have created an increase in bee swarms, leading to colonies splitting from their original hives. Recognising the urgency of the situation, Lovell extended a helping hand to Ken Boughey, a passionate beekeeper and valued member of FrameTech. Ken was seeking a temporary secure location to rehome a colony of bees that had separated from its hive and approached Lovell site manager, Adam Farbon, for support.

To facilitate the reintegration of the bees with the original hives, Ken, in consultation with Adam, identified a tree protection location within the Saxon Square development. This designated area not only ensured the bees' safety but also provided an ideal environment for their well-being, enabling them to gather pollen from locations in and around Miles Platting.

"The bees are essentially on holiday from Cheshire in Miles Platting," Ken explained. "They will be flying around the location, diligently collecting pollen for the hive. The gardens of homes in the surrounding areas that have been lovingly nurtured by the homeowners are now a haven for these industrious pollinators."

This collaborative effort showcases Lovell's commitment to sustainable practices and environmental conservation. By allowing the rehoming and protection of bees, the company is actively contributing to the preservation of local ecosystems and the delicate balance of nature.

As the summer draws to a close, Ken will be able to repatriate the hive back to his home and reunite the split colonies, ensuring the continued growth and strength of the bee population. The success of this project is a testament to the power of collaboration and demonstrates the positive impact that individuals and businesses can make when they come together for a shared cause.

Lovell is proud to support Ken in his efforts to protect and nurture bees, promoting biodiversity and the vital role these remarkable creatures play in our ecosystem. This initiative represents a step forward in the company's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
