The trainees were able to talk to parliamentarians about their entry into the house building industry and their experiences to date.

Neil Jefferson, Chief Executive at the Home Builders Federation said, “The home building industry is committed to delivering the ambitions housing targets Government has set. If the other constraints to increasing supply can be addressed, most notably the market for the private and affordable homes we build, we will need tens of thousands of new highly skilled workers to deliver the homes we need.”

Neil Jefferson and Baroness Dr Sharon Taylor of Stevenage, OBE Lords Minister for Housing & Local Government praised and thanked the construction industry for their commendable work and encouraged them to persist in their efforts.

George Carr bringing his local MP, Andrew Lewin MP for Welwyn Hatfield up to speed on his career path to date with Lovell Partnerships Ltd. We have contributed significantly in Hatfield with three recent new build developments. George and Andrew also discussed the need for more affordable housing in Welwyn and Hatfield.

Raushan said “Attending the HBF Skills Conference 2025 at the Houses of Parliament was an inspiring experience as a management trainee at Lovell. The event provided a fantastic opportunity to network with industry professionals, learn about the future of skills, training, and sustainability in housebuilding, and gain insights from speakers on tackling challenges like the skills shortage. Engaging with experts and fellow trainees reinforced my enthusiasm for the industry and highlighted the collaborative effort to build a stronger, more skilled workforce. I left feeling motivated and excited about my future in construction.”

George said “It was an amazing experience having the chance to speak to my local MP about the plans for the future and my experience so far with Lovell. It was also good to meet new people from other companies and listen to their different career paths.”

Hannah said: “It was a pleasure being able to meet and network with such a vast variety of skilled construction workers, discussing the importance of the work we do and the difference our industry makes. I’m looking forward to seeing the opportunities that arise from the government’s recent announcement of investment into construction training, and from exciting events like these.”
