Throughout the month, the Lovell Social Value team and colleagues from across the region worked alongside charities, churches and community hubs to help deliver festive events, provide practical support and contribute to initiatives that helped people feel connected, supported and cared for at this time of year.
At the developer’s Cardiff head office, the team took part in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day on 11th December, raising funds to support vulnerable children while bringing some festive fun into the office.
The Social Value Team also supported The Pill Trust as it held its Bags of Hope annual event at St Stephen’s Church in Pillgwenlly, Newport. In addition to volunteering at the event by packing food into bags and helping deliver them to families in the local community, Royal Victoria Court donated £1,000 to support the initiative, helping fund essential food supplies for people in need. Lovell also produced a short film to help the charity demonstrate its impact and strengthen applications for future community funding.
Meanwhile, at the Elderwood Parc development, the team collected food and pet food donations for TogetherWORKS, a much-valued community hub in Caldicot that provides affordable meals and activities to reduce loneliness and isolation. The donations are helping the hub continue to support residents through the winter period. Lovell also funded a new dishwasher, which has been delivered in readiness for the hub Christmas meal on Christmas day.
Lovell has also continued its relationship with Ebbw Bridge Baptist Church in Newport, donating clothing, books, appliances, home décor items and other household essentials to support the church’s Christmas fundraising event on 13th December. The donations were sold to raise vital funds that keep the church’s community programmes running. To further support the event, Lovell created two promotional flyers to help the church reach more residents, encourage additional donations and welcome families to the festivities.
The Ringland Regeneration development also supported local school PTFAs and wider community initiatives that promote sustainability and strengthened local engagement. Through the Ringland Regeneration community legacy money, Lovell and Hedyn provided hampers for organisations, including contributions to Ringland History Group to support heritage activities, PTFAs at Ringland Primary, Milton Primary and St. Gabriel’s RC Primary School and Ringland Presbyterian Church of Wales. These contributions helped local groups continue their work and deliver activities that benefit the communities across the area.
Additional presents were also donated to support festive raffles at the Celtic Manor Christmas event and the Business in the Community celebration, which was generously hosted free of charge by the Ringland Labour Club. Lovell Partnerships’ Social Value team played a key role in organising the celebration, sourcing entertainment and coordinating the venue. The Ringland Labour Club provided the space at no cost, while the Ringland Regeneration development funded the entertainment. The Celtic Manor also supported the community by providing 120 meals for local residents, served at Ringland Labour Club. Lovell volunteers supported the event on 18th December, helping to serve meals and ensuring the smooth running of the festivities.
The Lovell team also volunteered on 11th December at Royal Victoria Court to support the Tirion Homes Christmas event with residents. On the same day, the team supported a Christmas event at Pill Primary School, which welcomed organisations from across Newport.
Lovell Partnerships’ Social Value team also supported Tŷ Hafan’s “Infamous” Panto, an exclusive performance delivered by the hospice care team for children and their families every Monday and Friday throughout December. Lovell took part in the performance on 15th December.
Together, these activities reflected Lovell Partnerships’ commitment to making a positive and lasting difference in the communities it works within, especially during a time of year that can be difficult for many.
Gemma Clissett, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: “Christmas is a time for coming together and supporting one another, and we are incredibly proud of the way our teams across South Wales have embraced that spirit. Each initiative, no matter its size, helped bring warmth, stability and connection to people who need it most.
“Our partnerships with local charities and community groups remain at the heart of our work, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their vital efforts during the festive season.”
