The 16 appointments cover all the key disciplines and will support its ambitious 2025 plans and future expansion, with 10 new developments either recently commenced or due to start by the end of the year, which will deliver more than 1,700 new homes in addition to their current sites.
The commercial team has hired several new members to meet project contracting demands which include Daniel Mutton, who will be leading as commercial manager, Sean Murphy, senior quantity surveyor, and Stephanie Shaw, quantity surveyor. Assistant quantity surveyors Vincent McNeill and Megan Grainger have been appointed while studying for degree apprenticeships, as have trainees Ewan Carroll and Adam Lewis.
Paul Challinor, regional managing director of Lovell in the North West, said: “These appointments reflect the strength of our current business and the opportunities that our team have worked hard to bring forward over the past 12 months. While starting 10 new sites in such a short period of time is unusual, we’re investing in the right people to deliver high-quality homes and strengthen our partnerships, and we know that the people joining our team will make significant contributions to ensure our long-term regional success. These projects involve working with both new and existing clients, as well as joint ventures and open market sites - under our Lovell Homes brand – so we are excited about what lies ahead.
“Our strong internal capabilities, from land and planning management to complex regeneration projects, through to construction and commercial excellence, ensure we can deliver high-quality, affordable, and sustainable homes and build thriving communities across the region.”
Sophie Doyle has also joined Lovell as land manager, overseeing prospective new site transactions across the North West. Sophie said: “It is exciting to be part of a housebuilder that is growing rapidly in the North West and is strongly equipped to acquire and deliver quality developments both through its partnership and open market expertise.”
The operations team has welcomed several new members, including Mark Mellor, contracts manager, site managers Mark Bidmead, David Williams, and Matthew Harrison, as well as assistant site managers Chris Rimmer and Joel Barber. The technical team has also expanded with the appointment of Jim Sergeant as development coordinator.
Trainee site manager Daisy Axon has also joined as part of her degree apprenticeship, having completed her two-year T-Level qualification with Lovell and Cheshire College in Design, Surveying, Planning and Construction.
Daisy said: “Having completed a period of work experience with Lovell learning about different roles during my T Levels, I’m excited to continue working with Lovell alongside my studies, developing my skills and expertise in site management. Its commitment to supporting women in construction was a big appeal to the role and I am looking forward to helping manage the delivery on site at Signaller’s Croft in Crewe.”
Paul added: “We are one of the largest residential developers in the North West and despite the industry’s skills crisis, we are proud to be attracting new talented professionals who want to come and work for a forward-thinking, people-focused business. Our, the Lovell way ‘family values’ culture ensures employees receive the time and support they need not only from us but also from our parent company, the Morgan Sindall Group, to pursue their career ambitions.
