Lovell has commenced construction work on The Guinness Partnership’s 211 home development at King George’s Gate in Tolworth, in the Royal Borough of Kingston-on-Thames, South West London, having been appointed as main contractor for the first phase of the 11 acre site.

The site, directly adjacent to Tolworth station, has been vacant for almost 20 years and this new development will help address housing need in the local area.

Enabling work to prepare the site has been completed and the first phase has started on the development, comprising of one, two and three bedroom apartments and duplexes. Phase One of the development is due to be completed by July 2023.  All 211 homes in this first phase of a wider development will be affordable homes for shared ownership.

As well as a focus on high quality homes, there will be a strong focus on the quality of public realm. The scheme will include a new bus stand, a cycle hub and a restaurant/café centred around a new public square.

Stuart Gibbons, London and Southern Managing Director at Lovell, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by The Guinness Partnership to work with them to develop 211 homes as part of Phase 1 of its Tolworth scheme. It’s a fantastic development with great potential and we are pleased to have started on site.”

Catriona Simons, Chief Executive of The Guinness Partnership, said: “This development will provide much needed, high-quality homes in the area, and is part of our long term commitment to building new homes and creating communities in London, and across the country.”
