Leading partnerships developer Lovell is celebrating the win of two of its employees at this year’s NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Awards.

Antonio Ingram, project manager in London, and Cardiff-based senior site manager Geraint Thomas have both won Quality Awards, after being selected from a field of more than 8,000 UK site mangers. Antonio and Geraint are just two of 443 to be awarded the accolade for their work.

As the most highly regarded competition in the industry, the Pride in the Job Awards celebrate site managers who have achieved the very highest standards in house building, ensuring high-quality homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction standards.

The judging process for these awards began in July 2022, and each site manager was evaluated on their consistency, attention to detail, technical expertise, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specification, and health and safety skills.

Antonio is a project manager at Signal Park in Tolworth, Kingston upon Thames in London. Signal Park is a design and build scheme being delivered for Guinness Partnerships, with Phase 1 consisting of 211 homes available for shared ownership.

Geraint works as a senior site manager at the popular The Mill development in Canton, Cardiff, which is Wales’ largest regeneration project and providing a total of 800 mixed-tenure homes. The final phase of the affordable homes programme is well underway, which will see a further 262 affordable properties delivered for rent through Tirion Homes and Cadwyn, as well as five retail units.

Geraint, who previously won a Quality Award in 2020 and 2022, said: “Following my time at The Mill since joining the company in 2019, I have had the best support from Lovell, and the technical and commercial teams have been on point.

“The final phase of The Mill has been the most challenging and rewarding, as it consists of a mixture of 105 high rise apartments, 49 homes and five retail units. I couldn’t have done any of this on my own, the construction team around me are phenomenal and each have contributed by bringing their experiences to the table. This has been a major part in the success of The Mill.”

Antonio added: “Achieving a Pride in the Job Quality Award really does highlight everything the site team has accomplished and it is a testament to the successful teamwork between our on-site team, subcontractors and office-based colleagues. It’s a huge honour to have been recognised in these prestigious awards.”

James Duffett, regional managing director at Lovell South Wales and West, said: “I am exceptionally proud that Geraint and Antonio have both been chosen as a Pride in the Job Quality Award winners.

“For Geraint and Antonio to receive this honour is a huge testament to their skill and commitment to building high-quality new homes that people can feel proud to call home. This is the most valued industry accolade a site manager can achieve, and I wish both of them the best of luck in the next stage of completion.”

Mick Laws, regional manging director at Lovell London, commented: “This award not only recognises Antonio’s and Geraint’s leadership, but the dedication, passion and commitment that exists within our site teams and the supply chain, who continue to produce homes of exceptional quality for our partners and local people.”

Commenting on the awards, Steve Wood, CEO at NHBC said: “Congratulations to all the winners who should feel proud to have received a Pride in the Job Award. Pride in the Job is firmly at the heart of NHBC’s mission to raise standards in the housing industry. It is important we recognise the vital role site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites and to exacting construction quality standards. This accolade recognises the best site managers across the UK and celebrates how much Antonio and Geraint have inspired their teams by going the extra mile to deliver homes of the highest quality.”

Pride in the Job Quality Awards winners will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards, which will be announced in autumn. The national Supreme Awards will then be revealed in January 2024.
