Our own Kynleigh Parker has been named the winner of the ‘Achievement in Exceptional Circumstances’ category in the Apprenticeships Norfolk Awards 2024.

This award celebrates individuals who have showcased outstanding achievement in completing their apprenticeships amidst challenging or unprecedented conditions. Kynleigh's incredible journey resulted in numerous nominations during the application process and now being named the winner of the category. Winning this award is a testament to the fantastic work and performance Kynleigh does as a trainee assistant site manager at Lovell.

The Apprenticeships Norfolk Awards were held on Wednesday 7th February 2024, celebrating the very best of apprenticeships in Norfolk with nine winners being announced across a variety of categories.

Kynleigh said: “I am absolutely over the moon to have won this award and I am so thankful to everyone who nominated me. Being recognised for my performance, commitment and hard work is fantastic and I am extremely grateful for all the support that Lovell has given me.”

Graeme Simpson, site manager and Kynleigh’s manager said: “We are thrilled that Kynleigh has won this award, she truly deserves it. Her hard work and dedication is exceptional – she is such an asset to our team.”

Kynleigh is currently enrolled in a construction site supervisor level 4 program at West Suffolk College. She actively contributes to the initiatives at Lovell that are aimed at highlighting the skills gap within the industry and promoting diversity.

However, in July 2022, Kynleigh faced a diagnosis of Stage 4 endometriosis. Following the diagnosis, she was determined to find a solution and committed to raising funds by climbing Mount Snowden. In November 2022, Kynleigh required three months of intensive physiotherapy and psychological support after enduring a tragic accident that broke her back, nearly paralysing her. In January 2023, she returned to work at Lovell, with restricted and extremely light duties.

In June 2023, she climbed Mount Snowden, and later underwent a successful egg-retrieval procedure, keeping alive her hopes of starting a family in the future.

Despite numerous setbacks, Kynleigh persisted in pursuing her aspirations and working hard, and we couldn’t be prouder of her and what she has achieved.
