What is a Waste Water Heat Recovery (WWHR) system?

Waste water heat recovery means using the residual heat from waste shower water to preheat the incoming cold water that refills the system, meaning less energy is needed.

Calculations for the Future Homes Standard show that energy for domestic hot water production will consume around 25% of the total energy budget, so having a waste water heat recovery system can make a big difference.
