Lovell raises over £18,000 for Leeds Hospitals Charity’s Rob Burrow Centre appeal
Over the past two years, Lovell has fundraised for Leeds Hospitals Charity and the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) appeal, raising £18,280 to support the vital services the charity provides to people living with MND and their families.
Every two years, within the Eastern region, a charity partner is chosen by employees. The home developer partnered with Leeds Hospitals Charity to support the creation of a specialist MND care facility in Leeds, a cause that has touched colleagues and their communities.
Across the UK, over 5,000 people are diagnosed with motor neurone disease each year. The Rob Burrow Centre provides specialist care, research and support to help those living with MND, and their families, to maintain the best possible quality of life. The centre serves patients across Yorkshire and the Humber, as well as surrounding regions, filling a critical gap in specialist MND care provision. As one of only a handful of dedicated MND care centres in the UK, it represents a significant step forward in providing accessible, expert support for those affected by this devastating disease, reducing the need for patients and families to travel long distances for specialist treatment.
Lovell employees have hosted a wide range of fundraising activities over the two-year partnership, from charity golf and football days to marathons, dress-down days, and other events, bringing the team together for a common cause.
During the partnership, construction of the new centre was completed, with the facility opening in November 2025, making fundraising efforts even more significant, as employees could see the direct impact of their support in real-time.
Kevin McKenna, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Leeds Hospital Charity, said:
“We’re incredibly grateful to Lovell for choosing to support Leeds Hospitals Charity and The Rob Burrow Centre for MND appeal over the past two years. Their fundraising efforts, including the five-a-side tournament and golf days, raised an amazing £18,280. This generosity helps us invest in vital equipment, services, and research, making a real difference to patients, their families, and the staff at the centre.”
This sentiment was echoed by the new home developer. Tim Kelly, Regional Commercial Director for Lovell, added:
“It has been incredible to support this cause over the past two years. Seeing employees come together to make a real difference has been truly inspiring, and knowing these efforts contributed to the completion of The Rob Burrow Centre makes it even more meaningful. We wish the charity every success in the future, and I am sure we will all still keep a close eye on the developments and progress the charity will continue to make.”
