New aerial images show progress on first social rent homes in Druids Heath
New images of Brockworth Road show progress on 12 new apartments for social rent.
The much-needed homes are being led by developer Lovell, in partnership with Birmingham City Council, ahead of the wider planned regeneration of Druids Heath.
Foundations for the lower ground floors have been completed, with scaffolding in place as work progresses to the upper ground floors. Work to the car park area will also take place in the coming weeks.
Work is currently on track and expected to complete in 2027. Brockworth Road is the first of three smaller sites being brought forward before wider regeneration gets underway.
In total, 62 much-needed homes for social rent will be delivered, giving priority to households that have been temporarily relocated from Druids Heath.
Plans for a further 50 homes at Bells Lane and Sherstone Covert are due to be considered by Birmingham City Council’s Planning Committee on 10th September.
Alongside housing, Lovell is also investing in the wider community. To date, more than £147,000 has been spent through the local supply chain and almost £4,000 has been donated to charities and community organisations.
Staff from Lovell have also delivered almost 80 hours of volunteering with FareShare Midlands, as well as supporting people looking for work and taking part in careers activity with local schools.
Lovell was formally appointed by Birmingham City Council as developer for the Druids Heath regeneration in May 2026. The plans will see up to 3,500 new homes delivered alongside new and improved green spaces, and infrastructure.
